Printed parts are extremely flexible and resilient, maintaining enough strength to avoid tearing during the printing process. Fast Springback: Bend, stretch, and compress parts that resume their normal shape afterwards. Elastic 50A Resin V2 is perfect for creating soft, flexible prototypes typically made with silicone. Applications For: Elastic 50A Resin is the softest resin in the Formlabs range. It’s soft to touch properties make it ideal for prototyping or manufacturing parts that need to be comfortable for the human skin. The “50A” in the name represents the material’s Shore durometer. If you need a more stiff flexible material, try Flexible 80A Resin. The flexibility in the material makes it ideal for ergonomic features such as grips and handles. Elastic 50A mimics the properties of silicon and rubber well. To speed up the iteration process you can test silicon and rubber components with Elastic 50A Resin. If you have a part that will be bent, compressed and stretched for repeated cycles, without tearing, then Elastic 50A Resin is ideal for you. It can be deformed, numerous times, yet still spring back to it’s original shape. The flexible, non-porous properties of the Elastic 50A Resin make it ideal for air or water values. It can deform to fill the shape of a gap and resist the flow of air or water. Being resistive to chemicals makes it ideal for use with hazardous or toxic fluids. Common uses: Wearables (straps etc.), compressible buttons, soft tissue anatomy and stretchable enclosures and casing.
